Amanda is your loudest – and proudest – member of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of 2001! She spent the first 25 years of her life in central Texas, spending a few years at a community college on honor and music scholarships, and graduating with a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Texas A&M University. Amanda moved up to Anacortes in May of 2005, after falling in love with the Pacific Northwest
Her work history has ranged from customer service and human resources in Texas, to web marketing/e-commerce and inventory management in Anacortes. She spent four years with the Anacortes Chamber of Commerce as the Marketing and Promotions Director, focusing her time on tourism as the Destination Marketing Organization for Fidalgo Island. Amanda is currently trailblazing new adventures in Olympia as a Legislative Assistant to Representative Jeff Morris, and will have a district office back in Skagit County soon.
In addition to serving on the SWAN board, she is also a member of the Leadership Skagit Alumni Committee (Class of 2016), and was recently appointed as a Commissioner for the Anacortes Housing Authority.
She spends her free time quite seasonally – watching college football and making new soup recipes in the fall/winter, then hiking and helping friends with their gardens in the spring/summer (2014 saw a personal best of over 100 lbs of tomatoes!). She also enjoys creating abstract art, uncovering more efficient ways of reducing her carbon & plastic footprint, and reading a wide variety of books from Atwood to Whitman.
